What units are best for a space marine army? i dont have too much cash so i need to know the guys to get first

I am starting a wh40k space marine army and need to know the first guys to get that are cheep and easy to find.What units are best for a space marine army? i dont have too much cash so i need to know the guys to get first
The generic marine is the cheapest unit (by army points cost and $$), but an army made up entirely of marines is not likely to be terribly strong.



Your best bet is to get a hold of the appropriate Codex and plan out your army on paper, and then buy miniatures to match that army. If you've got a local game store where people play 40k, try and visit when folks are playing and (politely) pick their brains on army construction, units, etc.



If you're not playing in a Games Workshop league, or with people who are sticklers, consider looking at other miniatures lines besides GW and modifying them to match your needs. Also be sure to keep an eye out on EBay for units/figures cheaper than you could pick up at a store.
