Why do space marine bolters still have the grip still attached when you buy them?

you know when you buy a box of space marines from the warhammer 40k tabletop game, you get that palette of bolters for the men? well how come the bolters still have the grips attached to them when you just have to cut them of so you can put them on the guys! it seems like a total waste to me. does anyone know? or am i just an idiot and im putting the guns on wrong?Why do space marine bolters still have the grip still attached when you buy them?
Like most models, not everyone does the same thing. For instance they could buy a model of a military tank and instead of making it look like what's on the box, they could make it look like it's been destroyed by a missile or bomb. In this case it's so people can set up scenes of war such as having the weapons in slings, laying on the ground or in weapon racks.
